The VD, VLD line heavy duty process pumps, available in double - casing or wet pit configurations, are multistage, double volute/diffuser type, fully designed according to latest edition of API 610 Std. Pump components geometry, optimised through hydraulic, structural, thermal and dynamic F.E.M. analysis, lead to an high product reliability. Particularly to avoid dangerous resonances, the F.E.M. dynamic analysis is carried out on all manufactured pumps taking into account the proper site operating conditions.

 

Main design features

  • Closed type impeller with front and rear wear rings as well as balancing holes, to minimise the axial thrust.
  • Double suction 1st. stage impeller to meet low NPSH requirements.
  • Number of stages rangeable from 1 to 10.
  • Pump shaft in one or at the maximum two pieces, fully machined to respect the more restrictive run-out API limits.
  • As a standard, the rotor axial thrust is supported by a duplex oil lubricated ball angular contact type bearings.
  • Renewable bushings are provided at all interstage casing and column.
  • Deep stuffing boxes, designed in accordance to API 682 Std., suitable to accept any type of mechanical or packing seal.
  • Labyrinths and deflectors at either bearing housing to maximise protection against dirt.

Capacities:  up to 1200 m3/h (2600 gpm)
Heads:  up to 500 m (1600 feet)
Temperatures:  from -150°C (-240°F) to 400°C (750°F)
Design working pressure:  up to 70 barg (1000 Psig)
Rotational speed:  up to 2000 rpm
Max hydrotest pressure:  up to 105 barg (1500 Psig)

 

Design variations

In addition, the following pump designs can be provided:

  • Additional rigid coupling to facilitate mechanical seal maintenance activities.
  • Enclosed lineshaft construction to protect shaft.
  • Inside drain line.
  • Axial thrust tilting pad bearings for ultra high thrust operating condition.
  • Anti reverse rotation device.
  • Air fan or water cooling system provided on bearing bracket and /or mechanical seal when required by hot temperature applications.
  • Special bearing isolators at either bearing housing ends.
  • Oil mist lubrication ( pure or purge ).
  • Temperature and/or vibration detection and monitoring equipment.
